Logo Design for CHIC Blinds and Curtains
CHIC Blinds and Curtains are a South Yorkshire-based independent made to measure and bespoke blinds and curtains companies manufacturing their products here in the UK and working in the domestic and commercial market.
As the company was growing David Love the company director, wanted a new logo design and company visual identity that would make them look more professional and unique. From the initial meeting and design brief, the following information was gathered:
- The new identity needed to reflect the nature of the business in an elegant and sophisticated way.
- They wanted an appealing icon within their visual identity with a simplistic feel
- The company wanted a graphite grey version as well as working well on a black and white background.
- Overall the logo must reflect the nature of the business in a visual way and have a professional and corporate feel, be recognisable and memorable
After the initial meeting with David i went away and did some research and a mind mapping session, i then went pencil to paper in the sketch book to get some ideas flowing on paper. as requested by the client, the sketches where presented and and the best ones to be digitised were then selected.
I designed 4 concepts shown below and they were sent over on a PDF so David could have a look and go over them with the team.
The master logo design sheet was also printed off and presented in another meeting so i could explain the directions i took and why this would be beneficial for the company, the chosen logo was then selected and finalised no revisions were required on the final logo design which is always a good thing!, once happy the design was signed off.
The Final Logo Design
During the design process many different ideas and directions were explored, however the logo design that stood out the most became the final selection and this is presented below.
The identity was carefully thought out to represent the companies corporate image and maintain a corporate appearance, whilst displaying what the company does in a visual way by incorporating an icon within the logo design.
- Blinds and Curtains need to be represented within the logo. I was able to achieve this with the hand drawn icon that was eventually vectorised.
- I customised the serif typeface to give it a more elegant feel and corporate look.
After the logo design and brand identity project was complete i received the following feedback from David
Customer Feedback
Andrew at AJR Designs impressed me on multiple levels. He had an uncanny sense for what I was pondering but hadn’t yet said aloud, really listened effectively to what I was seeking, brought forward some brilliant design ideas for my consideration, and did it all in a timely manner and with excellent communication skills. How could so many terrific characteristics and abilities find their way into one graphic designer? I would recommend Andrew unequivocally and would use him again in a heartbeat.
