Candy Cart Land is a family run business that specialises in Sweet Cart Hire and homemade sweet girts and cones. They are based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire. and exhibit at different fairs and shows all around the Yorkshire area.
They came to me to discuss a business startup idea they had about starting a candy cart business. We held a workshop meeting to run through and gather ideas and possible creative direction.
The important information gathered from the initial meeting:-
They were in need of:
- Business Naming and help with overall branding.
- Logo Design – Full Creative Control
- Graphic Design – for promotional materials such as flyers, Rollerboards, Signage, so an ongoing relationship for future design work.
- Stationary Design – Business card, Letterhead etc
- Web Design & Development
Even though they had lots of ideas and knew the business very well as they had a background in the catering industry, they were happy to give me full creative control.
I set about the research phase to gather information and inspiration into the candy cart hire industry. I wanted to give them an identity that was different something fun and unique.
I wanted to give something handmade including the typography and candy cart, sweet icons, to give it a more fun authentic feel I did custom hand lettering and hand drawn candy cart and sweets then vectorised them.
After the logo design and brand identity project was complete I received the following feedback.
We needed help and Andrew exceeded our expectations on multiple levels. We had an idea and needed it bringing to life.
We gave Andrew full creative control in naming our business, coming up with the logo ideas and colour scheme. We also required marketing designs such as business cards, flyers, rollerboards etc and website design so an ongoing relationship for the future for all our design needs moving forward.
Andrew impressed us with how he listens and understands from a client’s point of view, he has such a creative mind and the ideas were flowed from the first meeting we had.
Andrew has also been a real gem in helping us learn social media and how to use this correctly for business, we could not have done this without him thank you ever so much.

Typography: Creating The Typeface
I wanted to create custom hand lettering for the typeface to make it unique to the brand. I wanted something fun and bubbly but at the same time handwritten with a vintage element. I went to work writing out the name a bunch of time in different syles the one that stood out is the one below.
I further developed this into a more bubble style type and then inked it and added shading.
This was then taken to illustrator to be digitised / vectorised
Logo & Icon Sketching
Here is the rough sketch of the overall look of the logo, not a masterpiece but to get the idea in a visual form to move forward with all the visual elements to create.
I hand drew the candy cart and sweet icons these were then digitised / vectorised in illustrator. Below are the sketches and finalised designs.
