Artificial Intelligence, better known simply as AI, is the use of computer programs to solve problems and complete tasks. In this article we will be looking at How AI Can Be Used in Design.
Over the last few decades, technology has improved to the point where AI systems are becoming increasingly complex and better than ever at performing a variety of tasks. AI is now used in lots of different industries around the world, and its usage is growing each year.
One of the most interesting areas in which AI is being trialled is in creative fields. Design and music production, among other industries, are highly creative.
However, some companies have been experimenting with the use of AI tools to help produce the best work. Although an AI might never be able to replace a human designer, it could potentially help them come up with new ideas and create timeless designs.
The field of AI has been growing for decades now, and it’s become more accessible than ever thanks to the rise of online courses. You can take online courses for AI to learn more about artificial intelligence including its uses and how to apply it in a variety of situations.
An online course is an excellent way to boost your understanding of a topic while also gaining useful, employable skills. A course in AI can be beneficial for a wide variety of jobs, including designers.

AI in Design
While AI isn’t replacing designers, it can be used as a tool to help the design process and create better results. AI will primarily focus on efficiency and speed.
With an AI tool to help them, designers can produce designs more quickly and at a lower cost. In addition, there are lots of other ways that AI tools can make the design process better.
Human minds will always be more creative than AI, no matter how much technology improves. Although AI may be better at processing data and performing calculations, it cannot understand art and style.
However, an AI tool could be used to save time and take care of more menial tasks, allowing the designer to devote more time to designing.
Examples of things an AI can take care of include finding references or evaluating editing software tools. In this manner, the AI will act as a virtual assistant, completing tasks that would otherwise take up a lot of time.
The speed with which AI can analyse massive volumes of data, and mean that design recommendations will likely be its greatest strength. On the basis of that data, a designer can then select and approve alterations.
This allows design teams to more easily create multiple prototype versions which can then be A/B tested with users to see which designs are the most successful.
On top of this, designers can enter parameters that they want a design to include and let an AI tool create several designs within those parameters.
This can also be done with existing designs to help prevent trademark infringement and to ensure that all designs are unique.
When it comes to A/B testing of certain designs, it’s important to know how users will respond and their preferences. AI is extremely good at analysing behaviour and recognising patterns.
It can spot how users respond to certain designs, and some AI is even capable of reading facial expressions to identify emotions.
This technology can be used to work out the most effective design for a specific target audience, something that was always very difficult to do without directly surveying consumers before.
While there is still a lot of progress to be made in this area of AI, there’s also ample promise for the future.
